Coodanup Foreshore with Fatmatt and Wog for company. I got a call from FatMatt warning me of his arrival and I wasnt thinking quickly enough to come up with a bulldust excuse as to why he should not pollute the pristine foreshore with his bulk. Next text I get from him says " I am sitting here getting a boner over your ass"  WTF? Re read it - oops its says glass..phew.

So the tide was a bit low at Fangy's to start with, but once Fat Matt got in that solved that problem. Wog and I then had enough water to bear away through Fangy's run. Its awesome sailing quickly on flat water, but to see Wog fully lit on the Run was brilliant - it just looks great when a board is fully smoking fast and the spray just a constant rooster tail behind. To top it off I cant wait to see if Wog nailed a good alpha because one of the gybes I saw was really sweet. FatMatt stayed out in the deep rough water but looked to be hammering around as well, but my best memory of him is the hip hop dance moves he was attempting having landed in a crab patch. Seriously it was like a VD clinic out there today - crabs everywhere!

Unfortunately the breeze had too much West in it to have a crack at a Nauti down the Run but the short inside runs were great. In any case it was a short session that had to end too soon,( parental responsibilities -doh!)  but certainly a Top Ten Fangy sess today. Great way to start the week and thank you to Wog and FatMatt for the company :-)

Worst Windsurf of the season, why because I went speed sailing on my speed gear and I'm too old, too fat, too slow,Embarassed speed sailing has passed me byCry. The two Speed runs I did manage were magic 39.89 and 39.22 on the dial.  But 4 hrs for 2 decent speed runs, and it took me 1 hour to get back.  (I did the run to the point, what a magic run that is!!)   Tried the main run, and didnt feel confident crossing the channel, so was running frm the shallows, and did about 6 or 7 runs, all 35's/36's, didnt really get wound up once, and big effort for little return)

But I just couldnt enjoy a 63Litre board 99% of the time when I'm 92kg, That 1 % is pure magic, but I'm too old to wsurf like that anymore.  My refelexes have slowed considerably, and I'm unfit.  Water starts and standing starts were torturous, fluffed 90% of themYell.  I needed to have been on my slalom gear, probably wouldnt have gone as fast, but may have done 70 to 80km's instead of 14km.

So at this very moment, there is a classic Custom Nude streaker 46 for sale, $1100 no offers.  Any less and I;ll keep it for my next lake George trip.  Its a great board, just too small for me nowFrown, or a once a year on a holiday  for me from now on.

The Good bit is LIPTONS = What a magic place for speed sailing, I can see this place being much more enjoyable for me on slalom gear.  Next time its this windy, I'm back slalom gear only, and its NM's I'll go for, great potential, and it wont take me an hour to get back!!  Liptons is the real deal.  And in WA we've had the most magical summer od seabreezes, hopefully more to come, and maybe another couple of good years ahead.

What a differnce a few days make and smarter rig choice makes.

First of all Congrats to all who got PB's today Fangy, Bender with a 41.3 on the dial, Claude killing the 42, Duffy 38? 39? and evryone else who nailed it.

Sent most of the first half of my session over on Point Grey where I was having a ball, kept company by Evets and Duffy with Slowy making special guest appearances grinning like crazy as he went past.

Only did 3 runs into cobler corner which I just can't seem to get my head around onthe last one I gybed and took of down to Ward point to try for a Naughty, that run I got my peak speed on it unfortunately I had my only spin out towards the end of the run, but prooved that there was some naughty action to be had so I went back and did a few more runs, I actually got 2x 33.7 runs and a 32, going to have to get a windy day and head down there as there is the sesame street secret spot mid way down which is a bit special.

Great fun outing som much more comfy on the 5.8 well happy with the modified main batten which gave some masive shape to the sail, shame I broke it in my one and only stack (we can rebuild it).

A lot happier with myself today

Once again congrats to all who excelled

Hardz, you destroyed me

More wind and southerly, late for barby, more later.

WOW, Looks like Liptons is really turning on, whereas this place still has too much water. Nevertheless the NSW guys were getting PBs showered on them, guess they just don't get 1/2 reasonable conditions very often.

I started off with 5.8 on the 48 with the lockwood 24, (to deep and choppy for my new 17s) found some nice flat water between the island and spit, that's where I got my max speeds, trouble was the flatest water was in the lee of the island, but there was a compression band coming off the edge of the island, in water that was still fairly smooth.

Changed to the 43 and 5.0 and used the 30deg 7% 19cm woody, (this combo feels fantastic) and followed Jimbob over to the 5mile drift, water still not real flat, but slightly better wind, couldn't improve my speeds so tried a few alphas when nobody was behind me, managed to get a couple of nice gybes on the little board, though they would result in at least one good alpha, I had a 31 on the dial after one attempt. But they were all to wide, didn't even come in at 60m, I had to go to 70m to see a 24.5. I think because it was a little bit choppy, I wasn't game to push too many Gs so gybes ended up a bit too wide.

Liptons WA, AU

JP45SP RSSII 5.4 MXR20 45degree

Congratulations to those who scored pbs yesterday, and there were many!

From a great session Sun to a poor one Monday. There was so much there but I failed to connect to the gusts which were coming through. Only once had power off the wind. Just left me with questions. Yet my 2 sec and 5x are my second best ever so I should not be complaining, but it is about how enjoyable a session is not the numbers and I ever really enjoyed it.

Thanks Ratz, Mineral you keep sipping your shandy through a straw sunshine ( it kills me to admit that the boom fix is brilliant - but I am not going to tell anyone else that) Hardie, your lips are moving but all I hear is soft. Your ability is demonstrable repeatable and being the youngest rudest and least experienced member of the team I am telling you to pull your finger out and take one for the team. You can go and hug trees and get all introvert and self indulgent after the end of the sea breezes. Toughen up and get out there and keep us in the top ten. And just in case you have not guessed, this is all said in jest because I have yet to ever post anything serious and don't intend to start now:-)

Hardie I look forward to the day when I can get two 39's on the dial and still say it was a bad day.

I enjoyed chatting to you anyway.

Fangman, Congrats on the 2 PB's. I actually didn't enjoy myself most of the time today either and was thinking I prefer Coodanup.

Salty you are welcome to come and take picsTongue out.And yes two people out here makes it a crowd. Seriously though - its shallow, real shallow so yes its smooth but you really cant have a crack on fins bigger than a low 20's or less, which is why the Deltas work well here. Also the wind is not funnelling through here like it does at Liptons so expect a few knots less - the tradeoff would be rig slightly bigger and enjoy the groove in the smooth.Laughing

It sounds like conditions aren't ideal at the moment. Hope it all comes together for you, best of luck.

Thanks Chris,l it was glassy today, but only 15kts when I went out, with the big stuff, picked up later and stayed glassy, every body had a ball.

There's a great crowd here at the moment, and the conditions are better than the NSW guys are used to, so although it's not as good as last year, it's still a fantastic place.

I'm not pushing for results at the moment, just enjoying myself and dialling the gear in, I'm optimistic that the water will drop in the comming weeks, and there will be plenty of time in good conditions to go for numbers.

Hey Tricky thanx for the words of encouragement, much appreciated and it feels good that some people take the time out and that they care enough to respond!!  Its more than an off day, its a gradual deterioration over several years just watching and feeling my body react more slowly, accumulating injury after injury, there's a bit of greiving over what gets lost physically with ageing. I really couldnt get the small speed board going, 40 seconds of brilliant sailing out of a 4 hr effort.

However, I've been a pig at the joyful trough of windsurfing for 30yrs plus.  I 've had more than my fair share out of this brilliant sport, I just have to make an adjustment and change expectations of myself, and select gear more carefully.  But I always feel really happy when others do really well, I really enjoyed that others did so well, and If I make the right choices for myself, I can still enjoy this beautiful sport of ours immensly. Cool

Lets make a Challenge........... That it be some sort of Social/Party Challenge........ I'm sure we'll figure something out!!!!  I reckon the Challenge will be to have 1 social gathering per week next summer, rotating thru, peoples fave venues, to peoples houses!!  Maybe we start a post on seabreeze some time on organizing it and getting ideas!!!!!!
