tailwind (7504km): Melville Beach, WA, AU R5 6.2 111 vector36 Hard work for not much reward. This has to have been one of the gustiest sessions I have ever sailed. Thank goodness for the toasty wettie as I spent several long perods in the water waiting for the scawls to pass. It was great to get out there again.
Jonah (2414km): Point Walter, WA, AU was solo parenting this weekend preventing much travelling but dropped the kids at the neighbours to get out for a quick blast. went to point walter and rigged up the 5.4 ive never used before (code red cost me $150 from Jesper!) hit the water as the wind dropped and drifted across to the sandspit. then the wind started coming through but mega gusty! managed to catch one gust right behind the little island and got a 39.2 on the dial thought a 40 knot run was possible but never got a good gust at the right spot again. Im expecting some top speeds from the crew who travelled further afield isonic 86 code red 5.4 delta weed 28
JJ (25827km): Coodanup, WA On the water at 1pm just as the wind booted in to about 25 knots. Thought I'd left it too late for a NM run but went for it anyway. Mad chop near the channel, got lifted clear out the water but fluked a clean landing. Grabbed the speed board and joined the rest in the Pond - great fun. A bit weedy and the run was a bit square but awesome seeing Salty smash through 40 knots and huge PBs from Craig and Paul on slalom boards. M91 (NM) M47, CL SL2 28, Vector Weedy 20, GPS 5.5

Lunny (42007km): Coodanup, WA, AU Great arvo out in the Chook pond. First time using the KA race and took a little tweaking to get things comfy, im sure its capable of a bit more speed but a PB is a nice little gift from it. Probably could do with a tad smaller board for days like today too so a speed board might have to be sorted. Great bunch out there today, got to witness Saltys run and see the look on his face at the peak of the run, he knew it was quick. Oh and how could i forget the tunes while sailing. Got some bluetooth headphones, quite a different experience with some tunes Thanks for the good company today Fellas. lao shi (41082km): Not the best choice! Couldn't find flat water / wind combo anywhere and after a sail dynamics class from the Slow one it would appear that my mast isn't helping my performance. Serious bullets but big holes also. Good to catch up with Yoyo who went faster than me on all of his 3 runs! Had a look at Pt Grey (which was an adrenalin ride across the channel) No flat water over there either. Still fun in the sun for a fair bit of the afternoon even if I was slow! Thanks to Slowy for a trial of the Tribal 25. Loft blade 5.6, MSL91, MXR 22 weed then Tribal 25 Peel Inlet, WA, AU
Obelix (3335km): Melville Beach, 96L / 7m Gusty, choppy, cold, the sail too big.... Could not hold onto it after 90 minutes. Damo was flying around, otherwise a lot of sailors, but couldn't spot any Pinnaroos. Fantastic speed and PBs guys, given the conditions today.
Windxtasy (14010km): "Shall I compare thee to a summers day?" seems like an appropriate quote for today. Liptons M41, 4.9K, 21 Tribal weed speed It was horrible out there. As others have said the wind at Liptons was very westerly (although as I got to Coodanup I checked seabreeze and it said SW so I continued on the Liptons) and when I got on the water it was very strong. It was flat in the lee of the shore but once you hit the windline (or the windline hit you) the chop grew very quickly and felt quite dangerous. A bear-away was out of the question. Kudos to Slowie who did 40 in that. I decided to quit before I got injured. Probably the worst session I have ever had in terms of no fun at all. I even had a long walk back to the car towing my gear through thick snotweed. I was almost too embarrassed to post my numbers but 28 is the fastest I have gone since the 10th of March so there it is. Positives: I got a workout. I feel like I have gone 10 rounds with a heavy weight. The heavy weight won. I did not get injured I made it home safely Speedchat was fun once I got it working, but it wasn't enough to make me risk life and limb to hear faster speeds. It was good to catch up with Shaw, Mark, Slowie and Yoyo. Thanks Yoyo for braving the cold and rain to check that I had made it back to my car safely. It is always reassuring to know we are part of a caring community who looks after each other. Apologies to Mark for suggesting we go to Liptons today. I know you felt cheated. Sorry. I know you could have done 40+ at the chook pond. |
