After the worst working week ever, I was hoping for a sail to wash it away, got there after enjoying my democratic priveledge thinking that the 7.8m would be overpowered, hit the water thoroughly underdone, went back, bigger board still shit, couple of attempts at runs and gave up.

Just par for course this week

Things can only improve from this point onwards

Having a barrel of a time for about 30 mins going for the NM as directed by venerable Capitan and some decent speed as well in the glorious smooth when a large hideous crack rang out across the bay and my visibility was instantly 360 degrees. Possibly as far away as humanly achievable for a mast breakage, after a couple of Kms of weed trudging and leaving the board at the nearst car park, a quite enjoyable 3 or 4 k jog in a wetsuit capped off my cross training workout. 

Rigging a 7.9 only gave a small amount of fun witht the wind dying at midday. Impaler junior on the other hand had a stellar time out and then proceeded to sleep the entire trip back to Perth...

Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen. Thank you for flying Fangyair. Forecast conditions are super smooth. For your comfort the Captain has turned off the seatbelt sign and its time to sit back and relax with a groove in the Smooth.

 Ladies and Gentlemen the weedy goodness is back! The lure of some smooth was enough for me to roll my carcass out of bed and down to Fangy's way too early to be decent. Cap’n Calm was also a little bewildered at the time of day but he joined me for a great session in the smooth. The best wind was early and that allowed me to get funky on the vintage Missy Edge, Koncept 7.5 and Delta21.

Completing the bewilderment for all concerned Vlad and offspring joined us for a record early session having driven down from Perth at sparrows fart. Conversely ‘Ken wandered on down at almost a respectable hour having had a big sleep-in (for him).
As the day wore on Tugger,Fin,Stretchy, PluckaDuck and finally Ben completed the turnout.

As you can see on the videos, the SSE provided a brilliant run down the weed bank to Boundary Island. Vlad hit the water and in an epic piece of timing the decided to have a crack at impaling himself on his mast at the very far end on the run. I don’t think he could have snapped his mast any further from the car. Some long walks are enjoyable. I am guessing this was not one of them.

More surprises followed. Tug managed to pick the right board and sail combo first up today. Then set about enjoying himself with only one spectacular off to bother the scorers with. Stretchy looked as though he was going to sail home and disappeared over the horizon doing his best to find his inner Elmo.

 The Cap’n caused me some concern. It looked to me that he might actually listened to the team instructions he had so carefully imparted in the early hours on shore. He was having a good old crack at a NM. I consoled myself with the knowledge that, having established a strong precedent of forgetting  team orders several seconds after delivery, I could go on enjoying myself doing whatever took my fancy. Which I did.  All morning.  It was great.

As the sun warmed up Fin started up his metronomic pace up and down. I know ‘Ken was out there but I hardly saw him as we seemed to be almost 180 degrees out of sync.

Huey woke up to the fact that we were out and about and decided to started backing off. I got a few more runs in with a board swap to the QEII but eventually it became too marginal and it was time to come in and rig bigger.
 Or sit in the sunshine with a thermos of coffee and generally soak up some rays. Of course I then got whacked by a good dose of ‘cant be bothered rigging up again” and that was the end of my day on the weedy goodness.

It’s a tough call, but this might have even been a Top Ten Fangy Day :-)

Coodanup, WA, AU   KA72 gave me a 0kt 2s? Not sure whats going on there. My best 10S was 29kts, so I guess it was around there - doesnt really matter.

Dropped in late morning for a sail at Fangland on the way back from picking up a CA SL52.  If I was beeing rational I would have been able to use it at Safety Bay where the wind was cranking, but i already had my heart set on the flat stuff.  Had to get the big gear out and my 36cm weedy proved to be a fairly adept berg finder - i bit it a couple of times.  Was good to be out with with MM crew even if i was sailing around the fringes!

Albany, WA, AU jp 101,np 6.2,delta 24 . launched from anzac peace park sailed all the way up to the old wool stores. then the wind died . slowly made my way back looking at the scenery couple of fiddler rays and one stingray on the way back.had fun great to be in the water 

Coodanup, WA, AU.  Although the wind was decreasing though the morning, I have to say this was one of the most enjoyable sails I have ever had.  Again, thanks to Elmo for showing me how to set up my sail last weekend, I think I had my sail set netter than I have before, aprt fromt eh broken batten.  Not the fatsest but sweet rides today. 8.2 on a starboard 111 carve, then up to my 141 carve as the wind got less.

Really wanted to go for the hour today but fangy wanted to go for NMs first. Fun idea so I went along with it. slapped the 6.3 onto the 48cm board and tried the 18cm 50deg S assy. The NM course was a bit square so I figgered the assy would give me more speed on the downwind run. Worked OK but the best I could manage was a 28, so decided to give the hr ago, half hour later the wind started to get a touch of religion, then a really big lull caught me. sothe hour includes almost half an hour of my NM attempts, including a 3min walk back into deep enough water to get going again, after getting sucked down wind into the shallows.

All in all though, another top 10 fangys day, plenty of real smoooth again, yippeee---.

Great sailing with Fangy, 'Ken, The Fin, Tugger, Impaler, Stretch, SMS, Ben and Mike. Basil and his off sider drove past me on my way out, hope they didn't miss out.

  In the smooth,...  but the weed is very dragy in the shalows. Arived a bit late as there was'nt mutch wind at home,

rigged the ka kon6.6 on the old slalom52 and the 18cm supaweed50/55. So when the wind was dropping and others

wher thinking of calling it a days sailing I went out for a few more runs and then came in to find everyone gone, but

Basil showd up, and we had a few good runs till about 3:30 and then packed up. 

It was a grate day for a sail in the sun and wind....

Got out later than planned this morning. Wind was up, but the family was not. Managed to get my fin sanded and headed down to Nairns, where the captain said it was looking good. Hoped to try the skinny mast Stroppo lent me, but left the skinny cams at home. Next time hopefully. Then made a mistake taking the 63 litre missile speed board. Think I was feeling over confident after last week and a bit optimistic about the wind. Couldn't get going at all. Really need to get up to speed before I can put my weight on it. Went back to the shore, long walk in the shallows and got the bigger manta which was a load more fun. Plaining most the time and got a decent hour. The wind was a really fun direction with long runs out past boundary island. Some great smooth spots over the weed but a bit shallow in places.  Got off the water around noon when the holes started to out number the gusts.
