Melville Beach, WA

Light wind (10 to 16 knots) cruise, gusty as, but still fun.

Bit of a gamble with the long drive and wind prediction but it was a very cruisy light wind session. Got to meet Fangys good mate Pat. Sure is a quiet fella that Mr MaloneWink Nice to meet Girlspeed briefly on the water later on and have a chin wag with Salty. Seems Oaf has got the dolphins interested in us after yesterdays interaction. I was down at the the channel and saw the dolphin fin ahead and when i got close it started to swim along with me until the shallows approached, awesome sight when its right under the nose of the board and swimming along, rolling around. They are obviously very interested in us. Second time this has happened to me and unfortunately no camera to look back. Nice spot down there, even with those vicious little crabs.

Light wind and I did not take the 125 board. But I did have my brand new 7.5 Turbo 2015 to get wet for the first time. It seems great; really easy rotation and good low end power. Not enough wind to see how it will go when powered up.

After watching the Aloha Classic for the last few days I got inspeired for a session at Cottkipa aka Dutchies.

The skills of the pros in 10 knots cross off wind and mast and a half faces has been impressive. The carnage on the Hookipa rocks cringeworthy.

Rushed down after the W word to see knee high crumblers and 11 knots. It was on!

In my mind I was boosting those huge aerials over the white water and laying down the full rail carving bottom turns before getting vertical and smashing the lip. At least I stayed off the rocks!

The numbers give you a hint to the reality!Embarassed Come on Huey! Someone sacrifice a goat or something!Yell

Melville IS101, CR7.5, CF38 - Gusty!  Either in the hole or way over powered.  Good fun still, especially stealing a little bean from JJ considering we sailed at the same place and time :)

Hey Lunny, I thought I saw you just after lunch contemplating Wamba and spending the arvo with Pat :-) looks like you had a pretty decent session and Pat is a very relaxing dude. Great to hear Flipper and friends are still around. As for those insanely angry little crabs, they won't be there much longer, the Wokkers were starting to get out in force yesterday..

Sue - Most of the crabs are tiny at the moment (say 10 cm nipper to nipper), but they are everywhere! There are bigger ones...

Booties give a lot of confidence.

Lao - I am sure you will slash it when you get the right conditions!

Ratz - glad you got out on the board finally, you probably need a 44cm for light winds, the 42cm I used yesterday was a bit small.

When the wind is up you can use as small as 36, I used a 38 in the ocean last week and the new board flew!

Mark - did you get to practice that clew-drag forward loop off the wave face?
