Munster, Coogee Beach WA

NM mission, chose a new spot on the ocean because it was likely to have the most wind and smoother chop.

Got the wind part right - a nice 22 to 25 knots. Fail with the chop, it was ugly out there.

Mark battled away to do an hour, I went for a NM right at the start cause I figured it would only seem harder after getting bashed around for a while.

Tweaked my back when I dropped out of the harness during the second NM so gave it away. Not a top 10 day Frown

Launched with JJ from Coogee SLSC into chop that made the Swan +stinkboats look like Fangys!

Sailed for an hour  up to Jervoise bay sailing club but did more skipping than sailing. Didn't go long enough for the naughty as the chop out the back was nuts!

Certainly feel alive though!

The kite foilers were killing it out there today!

Fun sail at Peli, great to get out on small gear. Plenty out having fun in the sun.

Melville with the family.

Proper windy! Plenty of holes though, typical Melville.

The sandbank setup is showing some promise for speed this summer! Very shallow in parts though. Even a decent Nm might be possible there on the right day.

I towed Arie behind me on his bodyboard today. We got planing and he had a blast.

I only got down after 5 and was amazed to see everyone packed up and chatting. Only got the end of what must have been a good day. Very gusty which made for some fun blasts.

Mettams to Watermans, forecast put me off driving so stayed local, lots of fun. Kombat 79l, 5.8 Panther. 5.8 was probably a bit big but the very occasional lull it was fine.

118 minutes to sail downwind, 27 minutes to walk back ;-) and get the car.

Safety Bay late shift. Big choppy swell out there today, made for some nice launches. Sweet session? Check. No holes in feet? Check. Man, this is shaping up to be a great summer already!! Laughing Cool

Just a quick 30min sail from the Dutchman's place. Tested a 7.8m Loft Sails Switch blade and must say that im vey impressed. Heaps of grunt and very light compare to my KA Koncepts. Its always dangerous testing new sails...

Well done to Wingman, Andy and Lukie. Cool

Tough conditions today but great to se you getting out and giving it a go.

Nailing Water starts = Heaps more energy for longer sails and more time on water. Yeew!

Well done Alan, you must have been moving all the time !

made the old mistake of believing the forecasts a little too much I think Embarassed

Great going at being out today Wingman, Andy and Lukie.

JJ I hope the back is ok, I only stayed in close and it seemed surprisingly choppy today, may be to do witht he wind being in so early. I dont know which ocean hooksey was in, not the same one I was bouncing around in I think !

Summers nearly here !

Awesome km Pb there Alan, and great numbers all round! Cool Biiig stuff!! Hooksey, if that is legit, that's an amazing speed considering how rough today was! I must have spent more time in the air than on the water out the back at Sb!!

Huge effort in less than ideal conditions, everyone. Good to see so many got out. Looks like my sacrifice paid off wind wise.

Andy, Lukie and Wingman - hard work for you today but it all makes you better sailors in the long run.

JJ, amazing nm in ocean chop. That's worth a 35 kn nm at Coodanup any day! I hope the back is OK tomorrow.

Alan - I'm glad someone went to Coodanup but why didn't you tell anyone you were going for distance? I hate to see that big effort not adequately backed up. Congrats on the PB by the way - I know you were wanting to get 150 km. And good work on the hour and naughty also - 3 beans - well done!

Jake the going at SB must have been really tough for you to only get a 20 knot hour. 76 km in that is a good workout!

Super kms Alan, good numbers all around. Well done on NM bean Cool

Hooksey, huge congrats, I hope it checks out - that's a stunning ocean speed on big gear, AFAIK only Slowy has managed similar speed at Leighton/Dutchies Cool

Hi Anita,

I hadn't planned to do a distance yesterday as I was practicing my gybing for the first 4 hours, but when I came in to pack up at 4.30 I noticed I had over 120km, so back out I went for some longer reaches and try for a distance PB.

4 hours of shortish runs with heaps of gybes is definetly the wrong way to start a distance PB though, may hands were so sore by the end I had to stop even though there was still plenty of wind and daylight.

Alan - four hours of gybe practice - respect! It's amazing how the distance racks up when you sail nonstop, and it isn't boring when you are working on other things
