Shoalwater, WA, AU

Well, started the day with the family. Plan was to all go over to penguin island on the kayak and windsurfer, have some lunch and a snorkel then get a sail in before all of us heading back.

After lunch i headed out for a quick blast and after a couple of laps was coming back heading to the jetty at penguin island. wife was waving to me on the jetty and i thought, thats nice. next i sail past a bloke running down the sandbar after a blue kayak.

On closer inspection the blue kayak had a kid in it and was getting taken by the wind down shoalwater bay toward Pt Peron.

On even closer inspection i saw that it was my kid and my blue kayak getting taken down the bay.

A bit of a square run down wind and i'd caught up to him, poor bugger was pretty scared, tied the board to the kayak and tried to sail up wind. no good.

ditched the board and stayed with the kayak, managed to climb aboard and paddle upwind to the sand bar and back to safety.

Big thanks to Mac the ferry skipper for initially trying to get him, and to the ranger for picking my board up.

So once everyone was settled down we decided enough was enough and we'd head back from whence we came.

Sent the missus and kids back on the kayak only for them to turn around after a quick chat to another windsurfer who managed to scare the crap out of them by telling them he'd just seen a shark on the sandbar. Well it was only a 4 footer by my missus must of heard 4 meters.

So back on the ferry they went and left me to sail the board back with kayak in tow, on the look out for a 4 meter shark and not  being able to get fully planing.

Took the family home and left the board at the beach so i could get a quick sail in after all the drama.

A few turns and a blast down the penguin island sandbar and i'd had enough.

Fun times.

7.0m rss, ca sl66, 23cm delta. Whole heap of happy faces today as everyone took advantage of the markers that Wazza and Fin put in, marking out the alpha reference points. Well done guys, makes things easier to follow. Cool  Last I saw, Kaison was having a ball in some fairly decent wind.

Fairly low tide today and a couple of unfortunate deltas found the bottom. Embarassed   That 24 is going to make a great 20 one day Wink
