What started badly with more jet skis and boats than windsurfers ended well when most off them pissed off.

Wow... completely out of control. ConsistantLy 30-35, with bullets trucking through up to 40. Between the jetskis, massive cruisers and the out going tide, the water resembled a black diamond mogule run. It was seat-of-the-pants, survival sailing and I'm surprised I didn't have a bad fall. The 5.5 would've been manageable if the water state was better, but not in that stuff. Managed half a dozen runs totally on the edge and browned my undies. Occassionaly my body would slam a big piece of chop and I'd nearly go over the front. Tried to bare-away on the runway a couple of times, but the corrugations were knee high. Don't know how I managed a 19 alpha... I only made one or two gybes... the rest were big stacks then waterstart. Coming back from the runway was the insane.... hard against steep, waist-high chop coming from every direction. I wanted to sheet in and drive off the fin, but I was getting massive spinout so it was just was just too scary transfer all that power. I'll be heading for flat water next time the forecast says 35. Looking forward to see what the rest of the team got at SP. The charts looks a lot more manageable down there.

Perfect place for practicing jybes, got a few planing ones a bit too wide, but great fun.
Congratulations John for the pb !!

3261 days ago 2 categories The forecasts were for some stronger winds down at Primbee, so I thought I'd try and beat last weekends 37kt NE attempt... Oh well, wasn't to be.
Brought my lovely photographer with me ;)
iSonic 90l, TRX 6.3 (under baked mostly, except for one scary run that didn't work out), Vector Fins 23cm speed weed, which was suprisingly pointy despite its diminutive size. Low tide meant it was necessary!

A great quick sail at the lake. I had a friend coming who is trying windsurfing for the first time in 20 years. So I rigged my bigger board and 5.5m sail for him. I then rigged my 6.6m sail and 105L Tabou Rocket. After umming and arring I went out and so glad I did. The wind was solid and it was so easy out there. I could not stay long or sail too much as I was helping my mate out plus we had another friend coming up for the day with us.
A bonus was the great weather. It was as hot as hell in Sydney yesterday however with the seabreeze the temperature was very pleasant at Budgewoi.
