Crazy conditions, it was ok in the lulls Tongue out

Great to see Erik brave the conditions.

Budgewoi Lake, NSW, AU || 20-30 SSW  and stronger gusts

RS3/ Koncept 6.6/ MXR 26 50deg.  & JP69/ Koncept 5.8/ MXR w.sp22

Started very light I was underpowered for about 1.5 hrs, then it blew pretty strong, but I got stuck at 37 knts, it was very windy in the choppy area going upwind and not very consistent in the bear away zone. I learned to start with both feet in the straps, it was the only way in the gusts. I also tried the 53 litre speed board but it was like trying to start a sea anchor, it took all my energies for a very scary ride. I am very happy I can post this, because Andrew missed me by about 2 feet, I never saw him coming, just heard 'whoosh - fuck !' and saw a white flash behind my sail. It's nobody's fault, but I have no doubt that if he got me well I would be dead or crippled for life, so a reminder to all speedsailors to be extra careful, these things can happen for real to anybody.

Giorgio very sorry about the incident. It shook me up for the rest of the session, and perhaps even more now thinking about it. I never saw you until you were less than a metre away. We are both very lucky.

Andrew I don't blame you for what happened, it's as much my lack of awareness as yours, just want to remind everyone to be extra vigilant.

Nigel congratulations, every sail a couple of pb's, imagine if you had your small boards....

Remi you should come to Budgi once !

And I leave the sweteest news for last... no I'm not pregnant ! I have your team's t-shirts, got them off Karl tonight, will contact you guys soon.

Congratulations Nigel! Great alpha and hour especially as conditions were choppy for Budgy.

Glad you're ok Georgio. Bit scary! I know what you mean about starting the speedboard..My arms were dead hanging onto the weight until I got going. It must be great to be able to consistently gybe them. You'd save so much energy!

Cheers guys. I might have been able to go faster with a smaller board, but I'm stoked to achieve a good hour and alpha. The new 75ltr Manta arrives in April. I reckon it's going to be fast and controlled in the chop. I find the dedicated speed boards are really hard work unless it's super smooth. Tiny slalom board should be the goods.
