Melville Beach, WA, AU

Mellville this morning as had appointment today so couldn't go with the lads to Australind (spewin).

Had Fatchat for company which was gerat  as lengthy breaks in between gusts so we could chat about how bad the wind was.

Ayway had one good gust that got me a new PB so stoked with that.

Manta 98ltr,  7mtr severn proto,  31 weed speed.

As speed sailing days goes, this was more suited for foilers. Woefully underdone but enjoyed watching Richo sending it on the gust of the day. Really up and down session with really short gust. Tide would have been near ideal if the wind had come to play.

Australind on the iSonic 90, 5m Mach 4 and 18 Delta weedspeed.  The gear all worked quite well today in very nice sunny, windy, flat conditions.  I'll take the 3 P.B's thank you very much, the conditions were just right.  I think some of the other chaps that travelled to Australind also achieved some P.B.'s but we'll see!

Glory Holes, Australind, WA, AU. Arrived with Boz and rigged 7.8 and big board with plan to down size when wind got too much.   Antman and Woody came out which was a good sign was time to downsize but was still trucking along ok so thought I'd get to 100 before coming in for a break and sail change.  Got to 100 but the hour o meter started climbing again so did a couple more long runs until it stopped climbing and came in.  Was a good thing as main battern had managed to work itself free and was hanging a good 50cm out.  Hadn't noticed as just focused on stuff up front.    Could have kept up and gone for distance but decided today was day to try the smaller boards out.  Reg rolled up at a nice time to get the flattest water and best wind. Went out with iSonic 86 and 5.8 but struggled to get going so went out on iSonic97,  this was much better and managed for the first time to get into the rear straps.  Once locked in felt pretty solid so first run did a long run and got a PB nauty at 29.5...bit of a struggle to get back due to water depth but eventually got back but then managed to break the gopro 360 mount so came in to get rid of the camera gear (I hadn't turned it on).  Thought of going back to the big board and continuing for distance but decided to have another few runs first.    Did a couple of long runs then the final run scored a nice gust and the speedo was reading 34.5 which is near my peak so just kept going and going.    By the time I got back, I was knackered, spent more energy on the last few runs than the rest of the session. Water was super low, contemplated trying the FF20 but had had enough.  Stretch and son turned up as we all pulled the pin.   A couple of other unknown sailors out. 120 Tabou Rocket, 7.8 Severne Overdrive M2, FF24 then iSonic97, 5.8 KA Koncept, FF22

Bloody hell Reg, I thought I had you today but still killed me on PB count and av.  Congrats on 3PB's!   Congrats to Richo for that PB in conditions that were no doubt a lot worse than we were in.

Great session to start the month, lads! Some very respectable scores there!

Congratulations on two PBs, Flex, especially a superb nm. Distance of the day and hour of the day too, not far short of a top 5 distance for you. You are definitely our distance man.

Congrats Woody on a sizzling alpha and speed of the day!

And very well done Flex, you beat me to a 34 knot 2 sec and your Naughty beat that Woody fellow's efforts on the day so, very, very, well done again.  However, it's time you lifted your ambitions above outgunning me...a 65kg, 73 year old codger with a fused spine, a pacemaker, two shoulder reconstructions, 6 broken ribs and both lungs punctured.  Maybe aim for Woody or Slowboat, they're more your cohort! Smile Smile Smile

Reg,  I figure if I can't beat you at your age and all your broken bits then this game is not really for me.  At least I can get close to you...the others seem unreachable
