A fun day on Botany Bay. The wind in the end started getting a bit much for me on my big gear. My big board is starting to fall apart on me though.

I tried one run to Kurnell. However did a chicken gybe three quarters of the way over. The wind kept increasing in strength and consistency the further I travelled. It was a worry that I may not be able to get back.

KA72 got 38 knots for 2s, which is slightly unlikely ona starboard GO!! So just replaced it with what I think it was.

Great cruisey sail on the GO and 7.2 Hellcat. No speed records, but good for cruising as it is always planing. Did not have much sail time as had a party to go to.

38 knots Adrian... blimey guv! The GPS never lies... Well, if you want to send me the sbn/gpx file I'll find the peak and see what caused it - and tell you what the max should really be - sparksdh at gmail.com.

Congrats on the PBs fellas.

I cut my hand and need to keep it dry/protected so have been out of action I'm afraid. Hoping it will be ok to catch the southerly on Thursday though.

The GPS was reading 50.0kph peak, so I just put in 27 knots. I am sure that is within a fraction of a knot of what I did. Would love to take the 38 though!! If I was going for a PB or something fast, I would not "guess" the result, but 27 knots is not really pushing the limits for me. I am still impressed that a 180L Starboad GO can do 50kph though. I have done over 28 knots before on it, which amazes me for a massive board with a 56cm fin. It was really good on saturday. I was rarely not planing. In fact I think the only times I was not planing was when I came out of a gybe. Once on the plane it never fell off. There is a certain attraction to sailing well powered up past the guys floating around on smaller equipment!! Tongue out

Hope your hand mends well mate!!
