Melville Beach, WA, AU

Coolrider 160 liter, NP RSS7.0m2

My first sail since March and it sure felt like it.

Great to get back on a board, something I am about to do a bunch more of.

Spent some time sailing alongside James which was fun.

I sailed all the way to the sand bank and back by myself today.

It was very gusty and too windy.

It was way too windy for me today.

Pelican Point, 118L/7.5m - gusty today. Picked up nicely around 4pm. David was out too.

Had a few nice runs across with Patrick and GOC. A few down winders felt faster than 27 knots. so a bit disappointed in that, but otherwise a lot of fun today.

Nice progress Wingman. Congratulations Laughing

Fantastic few hours out with JJ. We were the only 2 windsurfers at Liptons. Tide was very low but it was just shy of sensational i reckonLaughing

Seemed to be a spot on rig choice with great power most of the time. Tried hard to get a decent Alpha and it paid off. JJ thought the naughty might be a bit better though. Doesnt matter still a great day. Perfect choice JJ!

NM and Alpha session with Craig, lightish wind - 18 to 20 knots. Some super flat sections - 75% of the alpha run in flat water.

Awesome fun Cool

We did a NM together (with 35 knot+ peak) - thought Craig would have a PB for sure but the Point Grey flat section was only about half a mile long and the choppy start and end washed off the speed Frown Felt good though Laughing

I was going to Coodanup but the wind seemed too light so Peli Point instead.

Rocket 105 with 6.6 Koncept and 36 Tabou fin.

Variable wind, some good gusts and quite enjoyable.

Pleasant cruisie afternoon on the flats. Not much wind or water, Thanks to Salty for sharing the local knowledge and explaining the exact location of every possible bit of reef in the area. The only thing he didnt tell me was how dangerous the deck grip on the Mistrals is. My first gybe didnt go as planned and I ripped the flesh from my knees as I not so gracefully disembarked mid turn. It was actually a good time and place to stop anyway as it gave me a chance to meet Basil.

Misty91 Reflex 7 delta 20 needed a bit more wind.

Pinnaroo. 6.6 and mistral 112, thought I would listen to Geoff (and save some fuel) and try out the team 'home' spot. Good to see what the mistral is like in some small rough stuff. Realised that its the fin that does all the work, if you can get the nose of the board so its not hitting any lumps it smooths out everything a bit. Probably should have tried with a smaller sail, would have slowed things down a bit and might have been a bit lessy bumpy.

Bouncy castle on a field plowed by a drunken ox was the thought that came to mind Laughing

Very nice cornering, speed twins!

One happy captain.

Sorry I couldn't make it today. I was feeling a bit sore and thought I'd better stay home and do some domestic duties.

Went to Sb, JJ. No wind in the pond whatsoever for alphas so just went outside for some ocean practice instead

Andrew, glad you finally got to use that delta. Congratulations on the PBs.

...and yes I understand about the deck grip on the Mistrals, especially with stuffed gybes. I had one deep graze which took weeks to heal. For a long time there I only sailed my Mistral in a long wettie.

Hahaha, you wouldn't be saying that if you were there to see the conditions. Sub-planing in the inside and super gusty rubbish. Had heaps of awesome gybes down the swells -  though I'm not sure I would have made it back within 50m Wink

Jake, how was the weed at SB yesterday?

Snake

Anita,  the weed was not great. Had to jump it off every second run or so, but I'm not sure the pond was that bad. I had a couple of runs through as I was coming in and didn't pick up any with the FO

Good to see planning pay off JJ and Lunny, well done. I wonder if I should have done the drive seeing your comments! Great alphas.

Great to see all those PB's.

Jake that sort of attitude wont get you around the equator anytime soon, Smile .

I have one of those Mistral knees, 2 weeks now I think and I managed to hit it with my boom when crashing yesterday, right on the spot and opened it up again. I think the skin remover is a motivational device, some negative feedback from fluffing your turns.
