GPS 1hr state champs comp. Things were going really well for the first 30 mins then wind picked up well over 30 knots and I was cooked on the 7.0.

Well done to everyone who entered and thanks to Cookie, Mort and Clarence for making the long trip down from up north.......

Dorans, TAS, AU  Great to do a windsurf freerace and to see a few Northerners make the trip down - thanks guys for putting in the effort, that is impressive and appreciated, refreshing to see a few different faces! Really impressive sailing by the good guys and girl. In hindsight I could have used some different kit, but was expecting it to blow like the last 30 min where I was really nicely set up. Thanks Kaleb for organising a great event. Dorans, TAS, AU iSonic 97, Overdrive 6.2 tribal MK1 34cm

Freerace 1hr event - a pretty good turnout considering the conditions (wet and cold)!  Wind was up and down a bit before the start at 11:30am and then kicked in nicely for the first half hour before blasting through at 30+ knots for the second half of the 1hr.  Then as soon as the hour was up the wind dropped out completetly.  Great to see so many out battling the conditions, especially Cookie, Mort and Clarence who had made the trip down from up north.  Not the fastest 1hrs for a 1hr comp, but a good effort from everyone who was out there.  Good to also see a guest appearance from Brenno!

Well done Kaleb on running a well-managed, professional event - it was great fun!

Dorans, TAS, AU  WINDSURFING TASMANIA FREERACE EVENT2

That has to be one of the most challenging(and frustrating) one hour I have done for a while.  We were so lucky the stupid gusty system delivered enough wind for the race. Wind ranged from 10knots to 30+.  thats the funny thing with Dorans, there is no observations that truely tell what that location is doing.

Was sailing along over powered accross the wind trying to hold 27kn speed and saw Fergus uphauling 500m away, thought that was weird then bang, no wind.  Two runs later I'm getting lifted and slammed on the 6.2. Thought Steve had it, as he was way up wind getting runs that were another 1/3 the distance, then remembered he had rigged bigger and would be struggling in those big winds. Then after returning down wind to where we normally sail, I found Dave screaming backwards and forwards, panic set in as I realised Dave could be the one that made the right choices today.

A great session and thanks to everyone that took the time to support the event and come sailing, especially Mort, Cookie and Clarence for travelling down to the cold end of the state.Smile

Once again used the only board anyone should own, Isonic 90, Overdrive 6.2, Drake DW 32

A day of if only's, but sounds like everyone had trouble today. If only my adjustable outhaul didn't get twisted up around my boom at the beginning of the 1 hr, if only I had my harness lines in the correct position my forearms wouldn't have fatigued and if only I wasn't sutck for about 7 - 8 mins trying to get my clew out of the chop after falling off and trying to waterstart.............I wouldn't have got a great 1 hrUndecided

Perfect size kit for today and was great fun for the first 1 hr series held by Windsurfing Tas. If only..............Laughing

Dorans, TAS, AU, Well that was a bit slow, not to worry, good to catch up with everyone down South.

First sail at Dorans so dont want to set the bar too high. Plenty of room for improvement next time.

Well done Kaleb and Dave great sailing
