Jeff (13640km): Melville, early start as have xmas drinks this afternoon, only Jezz and lessons on water when I got there. 121 isonic and 6.6 but that got to be a handful so changed to sonic 95. had to be home before 1:00 and made it easily Look forward to seeing the pbs rolling in later today !

AC1 (2505km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU 5.4 overdrive, Lorch, 23 speed weed A little bit underdone today, rigged up expecting the wind to pick up a bit but it never happened before I left. Quite gusty and I was finding it hard to line up a gust with the start of the flat water. Fun day though
JJ (25827km): Peel Inlet, Liptons Super fun day - heaps of crew out, a few faces I haven't seen for a while. On the water at 1 - headed over to Point Grey which had nice long runs but a little choppy and gusty. At about 3.30 headed back to the main speed run and straight away got a nice boost in speed of a couple of knots. Wind around 25 knots, gusts maybe a bit higher, a bit underdone on the 5.5m Mistral 47, GPS 5.5m, CL SW 22

Geoff (4576km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU Fun day at Liptons with lots of the GPS crew out. :) Started with a few runs on the old Sputnik 270 (35.8 on the dial). Headed back to shore for some lunch ('n a yarn) and then went back out on the CA47 for the rest of the afternoon. Felt a little underdone with a 5.3 twin cam sail. 1: F2 Sputnik 270 - 21 Makani Weed - 5.3 Tushingham Lightning 2: CA47 - Choco Weed - 5.3 Tushingham Lightning
Windxtasy (13938km): Coodanup, WA, AU M41, 17 delta, 4.0Koncept Arrived at Coodanup to see whitecaps all the way to the shore and no smooth anywhere. No-one out sailing either. For a while I thought I'd be sailing alone, but it turned out the MM were just having lunch. I wanted to try my Mistral 41 for the first time today, no trouble choosing the board, but was tossing up whether to go 4 or 4.9 with the sail. I should have gone with the 4.9. There were very few runs where I was powered up downwind, and a few where I fell in backwards for lack of power. Had 3 runs with a 32 peak but couldn't do better. Owing to high tide and strong wind, there was no really flat water any where where I was, but I was told (after I had come in) the outer bank was better. The nm - I wasn't really going for one, it was really a lot of bearaways strung together, and I didn't even have the sail full ( because I was still experimenting with the combo) but when I got to the other side with a 30 peak and 10 sec I thought I could be in the running for a good nm. Still wasn't expecting a PB. Should have tried another with the sail bagged out! I have finally beaten all my PB's from last year. The nm was the last one. I've had a few top 5 results for nm recently but today I finally did it. Fangy, couldn't find the honour box. Did you take it with you? Good to catch up with bono, well done on your nm mate! Must have been a good day for Coodanup nms!
Pointman (25522km): Peel Inlet, WA, AU Fun sesh at Liptons in a pretty solid breeze. M95 + 6.6 TR7 + 27 tribal weedy. Set up was pretty good. I was overpowered across and upwind, but on the run she felt sweet. Happy to see a 40 on the screen on my best run. I was about to call it cos I was struggling with a lack of sailing fitness, but after the 40 I did a few more runs. Had to be off the water by 3 to join the family in Kings Park for a picnic. It was building as I packed up, and I'm sure there will be some great speeds to come.
nebbian (8313km): Pinnaroo Point, WA, AU A bit windier than I was expecting with a 5.2! Should have rigged the 4.5. Still fun to get out.
Lezz (4333km): Cervantes, WA, AU 125 rocket, 36 weed, 6.5 easy. Not enough wind for speed run. |
